Never order a wine that is listed second from the bottom on the menu.  Try not to order wine by the glass or Chardonnay. These are some of the suggestions from Dottie and John, the great wine writers over at the Wall Street Journal.  They have put together a must-read list of “Ten Ways to Save Money Ordering Wine”.

  1. That was a great article about ordering wine. We now look for restaurants where we can bring our own wine (and not pay corkage or minimal corkage). Seems I’ve made that mistake of ordering a glass of chardonnay many many times. We recently were at a new so called chic restaurant and chardonnay was at $15 (and this is Nashville). Appetizers were terrible and it made that $15 glass of wine seem even MORE expensive because it was washing down bad food.
